I finished A Shadow in Summer and am currently reading Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy and the same, long Crusades book. A Shadow in Summer turned out to be very good and I would recommend it. It's like Asian culture mixed with fantasy mixed with good writing. Plus, it's a Quartet, so if you like it you can grab more. I'm going to.

Also, broke my rule and started 11/22/63 by Stephen King which if you like a first person narrative that flows like only Stephen King can, I highly recommend it.

Maybe it was because I was only 16, but Anna Karenina made me want to put my head through a wall. And that was after reading War and Peace. Perhaps I should pick it up again though. If you're a Tolstoy fan, I enjoyed Resurrection. It's not as meaty as Anna Karenina or War and Peace, but it's more about the message than the story itself.
