Homeworld Name: 'Sanctuary'
Homeworld Location: 04C
Homeworld Type: Starbase
Homeworld Description: Sanctuary was built as a deep-space battlestation, to protect the massive titanium deposits on the 04C asteroid field. During the Alarei-Human war, it was refitted to serve as a ballistic missile silo, refueling station for warships, and shipyard. The station itself spans over two hundred kilometers in length, with the capacity to house hundreds of fighter squadrons and the facilities necessary to repair battleship-size vessels. Its thick armor and advanced point defenses were built to spec to protect it from the asteroid field, but in time, they were modified to serve as effective defensive systems against ships. Numerous kinetic batteries and missile silos cover the exterior of the station, and a set of reaction control thrusters allow it to remain in sync with the rest of the asteroid field. It is the home of the fleet, and houses over fifty million people; one eighth of the population. Its primary power source are the six Helium-3 fusion reactors, two on the main superstructure and one on each extension. Hydroponics facilities produce food and oxygen, but the station relies on the three hundred million plus people living in ships nearby to supply it with anything more than the essentials.
Political System: The government of the United Systems is divided into the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary branches with a clear separation of powers. The Executive branch is the President of the United Systems, who is elected into office through a complex voting process; each of the 51 fleet divisions (Asteroid Miners, US Navy, US Marines, Hydroponics, Medical, etc.) votes for a set number of representatives in Congress, and for the President through Electoral College. Each President can serve two consecutive four-year terms. He holds supreme executive authority, is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, can authorize the use of strategic nuclear weapons, can declare states of emergency, and oversees meetings of the Council of Commanders. The Council of Commanders is a weekly (or more frequent if needed) meeting of ship captains and commanding officers, military and civilian, which works in cooperation with Congress to act as a legislative power. Judiciary power is usually left at the discretion of ship captains and security forces for minor crimes, but crimes such as felonies are handled by the Federal Bureau of Investigation or the US Navy Military Police, and judged by the Supreme Court. The government is housed on Sanctuary, the heart of the fleet.
Economic System: Social Capitalism with a single currency, the US Dollar, available in both electronic, card and (polymer) paper bills. Ship captains have supreme authority to regulate the economies of their ships if needed, and are encouraged to take measures such as rationing food, water and medication. Free healthcare is provided by dedicated ship doctors in each vessel's infirmary, but various hospital ships provide access to advanced equipment and medications otherwise unavailable. Jobs are handled like in any other capitalist nation, although unemployment is at very low levels. Simply put, there is dire need for more labour: even the advanced USC robotics aren't enough to deal with all the tasks that need doing in the fleet. Education is free, and all children must attend higher education to ensure they can be productive fleet citizens. The largest field of work is, unsurprisingly, engineers, with the military, mining and science sectors falling closely behind.
Culture: Naturally for a people that is born, lives and dies in ships, the Captain undoubtedly holds the position with the most prestige. A Captain has supreme authority in his ship, although he does have superiors, and handles all day-to-day operations. The method for picking captains is different; military captains are appointed by the Council of Admirals, while civilian captains rise through the ranks of their ship. More often than not, however, military captains are simply XOs who were promoted to the position and given their own ship as their command.
Large part of USC culture is enclosed spaces. After centuries of living in cramped ships, and with overpopulation being a major issue, each person can have a very small space dedicated to themselves. Military crews exercise hot-bunking, while civilians get small accommodations for them and their family. Public messhalls, store districts and showers on each ship make the inhabitants of the fleet very outgoing and sociable, as there is simply no way to avoid one's fellow shipmates.
History: What once was the United States of America became the United Systems Coalition in 2100, a union of the sovereign nations of the USA, Canada, various countries of South America and Israel, along with their colonies and stations. The new superpower was the single biggest contributor to world defense, and officially owned half of the United Nation's vessels, the Albert Einstein Shipyards and numerous smaller launch facilities on various planets. The United Systems Military was the first military of Sol to construct the beast known as a Titan, officially the U.S.S. Enterprise SCVN-01. It was also the first to veto the Alarei Treaty, and the first to commence attacks on Alarei territory. What had begun as a devastating loss with the destruction of the Einstein Shipyards had turned into an unquestionable victory; the Alarei homeworld was in ruins, and the remaining council races had signed the armstice.
Unfortunately, the victory did not last for long; during Black Wednesday, Alarei ships penetrated Sol defense and launched a ruthless attack on human major cities. The USS Enterprise and much of the fleet was annihilated along with the Ronald Reagan Shipyards in orbit of Jupiter, where it had docked to rearm and resupply. Naturally, the USC retaliated, turning its nuclear weapons on the rest of the Alarei colonies. While it had succeeded in wiping out its adversary, it had done so with considerable loss. So when the Human Civil War came, it was left unable to defend its major holdings in Sol. With much of the mainland destroyed, the government fled to the secretive base known as 'Sanctuary', taking most of the remaining fleet with it. While a small contingent of troops and vehicles was left to guard major cities such as Vancouver and New York, or what was left of them, the USC fled.
For the next few hundred years, a large civilian fleet gathered in orbit of Sanctuary: survivors of the holocaust of Sol who had ships with jump drives, freighters, refinery ships. The vast asteroid field was exploited to its fullest, with its materials going towards the repair of damaged vessels, extensions to the station, or the construction of new warships. The original goal was to retake Sol, but after centuries of barely surviving, the goal became to protect the future of the human race and American civilization.

Re: United Systems Coalition (USC)
Light Vehicles
IFVs/APCs
Main Battle Tanks/Heavy Vehicles
General Motors G110 'Tomcat' Jeep | Built with mobility in mind, the 'Tomcat' excells at transporting small amounts of personnel and equipment throughout the battlefield, or ferrying heavier vehicles and weapons. Its fusion reactor and electrical motors give it as much speed as the heavier M44, or even more if pushed past normal operating limits, and the vehicle is so modular that it can be mounted with virtually any weapon. Anti-Infantry, Anti-Tank and Artillery units, along with Anti-Aircraft and minelayer varients make daily apperances throughout the Confederation; in fact, the G4c, pronounced Geforce, is a civilian version very popular with the rich and vehicle enthusiasts. |
General Motors G115 ATV | The G5 was designed to provide a fast response vehicle which could also protect its occupants from both environmental hazards and hostile forces. Each of these units is airtight and contains a compartment shielding system, allowing one or more seats to be quarantined or decontaminated while the vehicle is in move. Powerful electroreactive armor and a weapon mount make it a deadly foe in the battlefield, and with a powerful electrical engine running on fusion, it can ferry vehicles as heavy as tanks behind it when needed. Often, these jeeps are used to carry artillery out to the field. |
IFVs/APCs
GDLS M27 IFV | Recongising the need for a light infantry fighting vehicle to support orbital drops in areas that tanks could not reach, the DoD picked the M27 for the Advanced Infantry Fighting Vehicle Competition a decade ago. Many of the fast, hydrogen-powered units have been built since then, complete with their 40mm Gauss Cannon, .50 Caliber Railgun and missile pods. |
GDLS M29 'Stinger' | The Stinger is one of the most modular vehicles in existance. While its primary purpose is to provide fast transport for marine and army units, tank destroyer, missile launcher, anti-aircraft, mortar and howitzer varieties have been designed and produced. |
GDLS M44 'Hornet' | The Hornet was specifically designed for high-risk extraction and insertion missions, having a significant advantage in speed over most Army vehicles; a hydrogen combustion engine. Whereas electrical motors and fusion reactors are more reliable and can run for years without recharge, Hydrogen Combustion Engines are capable of delivering enormous engine power to the vehicle, easily allowing the Hornet to outrun even the fastest of military-grade interceptors. It has a set of jet boosters on its back for emergency acceleration and decceleration, an inertial dampener, decceleration boosters underneath it to ease leaps and is armed with two rocket launchers and a 4.7mm Gauss minigun. Its last feature is a dynamic camouflage system. |
M51A1 'Badger' APC | Where the M29 Stinger was designed to offer a balance between speed, armor and weapons, the Badger focuses on obliterating anything that gets between its crew and their objective. Its armor plates were taken directly from the M100 'Mammoth' and sized down for optimal anti-tank defense, and its 12.7x99mm Gauss Gatling can cover entire areas in a solid wall of lead within a matter of microseconds. A powerful 40mm Gauss Cannon on its main turret provides 360-degree coverage with heavy weapons, and a missile and grenade launcher pod can offer fire and artillery support. |
M51A2 'Superbadger' IFV | Built on the versatile M51 chassis, the Superbadger excells at fast attack and guerilla tactics. It can support infantry on the field, suppress enemy combatants or patrol large areas while remaining largely undetected, thanks to dynamic camouflage and a heatsink system. |
Main Battle Tanks/Heavy Vehicles
M100 'Mammoth' MBT | The M10 'Mammoth' is the main battle tank unit of the United Systems Military, sporting an impressive arsenal of weapons and armor. Albeit slower than most tanks of its size, it can withstand several direct hits from anti-armor weaponry and missiles, and its energised hull plating easily shrugs off anything under a 40mm round. Its primary weapon is made out of two complimentary 120mm Gauss Cannons, two under-barrel 12.7mm Rail Chainguns, two eight-pod rocket launchers, a deployable 12.7mm Rail Autocannon and a missile launcher pod. Inertial dampeners allow the unit to accelerate and deccelerate with ease, and its powerful plasma fusion reactors give it the energy required to fire its weapons non-stop, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Each unit is capable of replicating ammunition on-site if required, although this process drains the reactor, and the vehicle can store enough ammunition for weeks of fighting. |
M110 'Prowler' MBT | The M110 is a newer advancement of the M100, with a reduced size and weapons arsennal serving to make room for its oversized Plasma Fusion Reactor. The reactor was originally taken from one of the abandoned jump drive projects of the Navy, and gives the tank its main advantage; two devastating rail cannons which can not only penetrate any obstacle before them, but can also reach orbit and damage enemy spaceships. This gives the M11 an anti-aerial and artillery role as well, but leaves it at the disadvantage of being slow, unmanueverable and vulnerable; its only defense is a 5.56x45mm rail machinegun, other than the rail cannons that is. |
X120 Series MBT | Part of the Modular Main Battle Tank contest, the X120 was designed to be the absolute pinnacle of modular weapons. Its armament can be changed in less than two minutes, giving it its infamous 'Shapeshifter' nickname. |
M88 'Stingray' | The Stingray is a modular chassis that has been used in mobile command center, ISBM carrier, tank destroyer, artillery, hospital and vehicle recovery platforms. |
M93 'Shelly' MLRS | A modular missile launcher system that is in use as both an artillery, anti-aircraft and direct combat unit. |
M180 'Sherman' MBT | The Sherman is a middleground between the Mammoth and the Superbadger. Fast enough to outrun other tanks, strong enough to take them down. It uses a single cannon of the same type as the Mammoth, together with the same coaxial machinegun, but has an increased amount of rocket pods and an additional remote autocannon. |
M190 'Hammer' MBT | An upgrade of the Sherman, the Hammer has an oversized power core to be able to use its 400mm Siege Cannon. In addition, a pair of smaller 40mm anti-materiel railguns can devastate enemy combatants and vehicles alike. The M195 is an artillery variant of the same chassis. |
M200 'Panther' HBT | The Panther Heavy Battle Tank is a device of nightmares. Its massive 500mm Supersiege Cannon can take down buildings in a single shot, and numerous rocket launcher, grenade launcher, machinegun and autocannon systems, along with impressive armor, make it a true fortress. Its downside is its speed, as the unit can not both fire its main weapon and keep up with vehicle convoys at the same time. |
Mechs
AM-06 'Minuteman' Light Attack Mech | Although the AM-06 is not the newest or greatest combat machine ever built by the United Systems, it serves its purpose expertly: with a proprietary General Dynamics Higgs Field Manipulation Drive, it can lower its mass sufficiently to re-enter planets and land with the assistance of only a few minor solid rocket boosters, which are detached from the vehicle after their burn has been completed. It comes armed with a 20mm Gauss Chaingun on one arm, a plasma torch right above the barrel, two missile-launcher ports on either side of the canopy and a heavy lifting arm capable of crushing small vehicles into tincans. It is small enough to fit inside a large corridor, which makes it an excellent choice for urban environments. |
AM-08 'Hourman' Light Attack Mech | The AM-08 uses a very strange and meaningless name, but it can beat respect into anyone who mocks it. Although it is not designed for planetary re-entry, it wields heavy firepower, including a 20mm Tri-Rail Gatling, a heavier 60mm Gauss Cannon, a plasma fusion torch, two multi-ordinance launch pods that can fire grenades, rockets and missiles, and of course, heavy armor. It is slightly larger than the AM-06, but it can still participate in urban combat with ease. |
BM-11 'Rifleman' Main Battle Mech | The classic, ever-present mech warrior of the United Systems Army and Marine Corps. The BM-11's operating principle is simple: cram as big of a cannon into as small a mech as possible. The result is a mech twice the size of the AM-08 with two gigantic 120mm Gauss Cannons, with two underslung Hybrid Railguns (railguns that supercharge their projectile to give it an outer shell of plasma as it leaves the barrel, and that can melt through armor.) Not one, not two, not three but four missile and grenade pods are located in a rectangle formation around the canopy, while a set of plasma fusion torches provides close-range defense. |
LM-07 'Longbow' Artillery Mech | The Longbow exceeds at one thing, and one thing only: long-range artillery support. A single 240mm Rail Artillery Cannon attached to its back can be deployed, using the ground as a means to dissipate recoil, and a series of high-capacity long-range missile tubes ensure that any friendly forces can receive instant artillery support from afar. A gigantic antenna on the top of the vehicle can generate an intense electromagnetic field around it, jamming any missiles that approach and scrambling targeting systems. |
HM-18 'Titan' Heavy Battle Mech | The Titan is the King of Mechs. Its 30mm Gatling Railguns can tear apart enemy infantry, aircraft and light armor, while the two fusion plasma torches can incinerate anything within a fifty meter range with a cloud of ionized gas. Aside from the numerous rocket and grenade launchers throughout the vehicle, its 120mm Cyclic Railgun can destroy heavy tanks with just a few shots, and the weapon can be converted into a 360mm Octo-Rail Artillery Cannon for the purposes of destroying enemy entrenchments and mechs. |

Re: United Systems Coalition (USC)
Air/Space Superiority Fighters
Strategic/Tactical Bombers
Covert Operations Fighters
Gunships/Dropships
Lockheed Martin F-36 'Cobra' MKVI | The Cobra has been in service since before the Alarei wars, and is one of the most adaptable fighter platforms in USAF. It is powered by several hydrogen combustion reactors and has a thermal radiation battery as a reserve, and uses a trio of General Electric CG-103 Magnetoplasmadynamic Engines combined with a General Dynamics X-2b Inertial Dampener as its main form of propulsion. The fighters have two built-in 12.7x99mm Rail Machineguns on their wings and two fuselage-mounted 40mm Gauss Cannons, and can be fit with numerous missiles, drones and weaponry. The wings are usually folded until their firepower is needed, or the fighter is in atmospheric flight mode. |
Boeing FA-12 'Falcon' MKI | Built as a replacement for the Cobra, only a single squadron of FA-12 fighters has been built so far, housed aboard the USS Carentan. The fighter could not beat the modular nature of the Cobra, but proved to be superior in space fighter duties when faced against multiple hostiles thanks to its heavy armor and turret-mount weapons. Due to operational and manufacturing costs, the Cobra Mark VII has been given the funding that would go to FA-12 construction. Regardless, the squadron "White Falcons" aboard the Carentan claim they would never change their fighter for any other. |
Lockheed Martin FA-36 'Cobra' MKVII | The Cobra VII is an experimental fighter based on the Cobra series, featuring the latest advanced technologies in the modular Cobra design. The hull has been redesigned to have a more aerodynamic, compact and stealthy shape, and advanced RADAR-absorbing materials have been used to render the craft invisible to low-strength scanners. The weapons philosophy has been changed. Up until the Mark VI, Cobras had to deploy a set of vulnurable wings to launch missiles. In the VII, missiles are housed inside the spacecraft. |
Strategic/Tactical Bombers
Lockheed Martin B-1 'Talon' MKIII | Talons are built for speed and stealth. The fighters rely on complex sensor-jamming systems and radiation-absorbant materials to get to the target undetected and release their payload, tactical or strategic, followed promptly by leaving. They are more often than not used to bombard enemy capital ships with anti-subsystem torpedoes, but can carry nuclear ordinance if needed. Some editions are built with jump drives. |
Lockheed Martin B-2 'Supertalon' | The Supertalon is a jump-capable strategic bomber designed specifically for the deployment of nuclear weapons on enemy territory. It includes stealth systems, much like the Talon, and can carry up to twenty MXV-082 MIRVed nuclear warheads or fourty MXV-112 non-MIRV continent-buster weapons. |
Covert Operations Fighters
Lockheed Martin S-14 'Raven' | Ravens are stealth strike fighters designed to be deployed from supercarriers, go under enemy RADAR and cripple military installations or attack important gunships while remaining covert. |
SR-77 'Blackbird' | Blackbirds are the ultimate stealth recon fighters. They can jump deep behind enemy lines, and using the proprietary General Dynamics Reactionless Motion Drive (TM) can move without producing any emissions. Their advanced heatsinks allow them to not only cover their jump signature, but to remain in stealth mode for days without having to vent the heat. |
Gunships/Dropships
CH-48 'Chetco' VTOL | The Boeing CH-48 is named after the people of Chetco, a native Oregon tribe, and is the Space capable offspring of the CH-47 Chinook. It is an ancient vehicle, having served in both the Civil War and the Alarei War, and most of them are used as civilian cargo transports within the fleet, but military versions still exist for the transport of sensitive materiel because of the ship's heavy armor and huge cargo hold. Up to two main battle tanks, or fourty troops, can fit comfortably inside the hold of a CH-48. It is powered by microfission batteries, and uses a Buzzard scoop to use as reaction mass, giving it an almost unlimited range. Sometimes, the transports are refitted with an FTL drive to ferry cargo between Sanctuary and Earth. |
UH-101 'Raptor' Gunship | The Raptor is an agile utility craft that serves as a jack of all trades. Cargo and troop transport, ECM, ECCM, sensor tracking, force insertion, recon, drone carrier, planetary and asteroid surveys and combat craft; there is no role that the Raptor can't do with the right tools in its arsenal. They are hybrid craft, using both hydrogen fuel cells for short bursts of fighter-level agility, and a fusion reactor for long-distance travel and recon. It is fitted with an FTL drive and military-grade heatsink, and can be armed with railguns, missiles and nuclear torpedoes, amongst a range of equipment. |
UH-77 'Inuit' Lander | The UH-77 is named after the Canadian Inuit, part of Canadian heritage in the USC, and is built as a force insertion craft. Its missile pods can clear the path for ground forces to land in, and its railgun can devastate other dropships in dogfights. It is faster and more agile than the Chetco, and can be fitted with an FTL drive to allow it to travel faster than light. It also supports cloaking modules, heavier weapons, mech compartments and weapons of mass destruction. |
AH-12 'Slingshot' Gunship | The Slingshot is the exact opposite of the Chetco. Agile and armed, it is meant to provide cover for ground troops with a huge arsenal of weaponry, such as rail cannons, missiles and artillery turrets. It can carry a small squad of marines inside it, for rapid deployments, and is fueled by hydrogen fuel cells to give it unpararelled agility when it comes to assault gunships. |

x60 Dual Heavy Guided Explosive Batteries
x30 Quad Heavy Guided Explosive Batteries
x10 Octuple Heavy Guided Explosive Batteries
x24 Drone Launch Bays
Fighter Wing: 15 Squadrons (330)
Description
The Hastings-class started as a battleship-sized carrier, but after an extensive refit, both of the class's vessels were converted into capital ships. Supercarriers are the basis of the Coalition's combat doctrine, and serve as mobile command centers for the battlegroups they command. They are almost always refered to as "the Flagship", as they house a battlegroup's Admiralty Board. The vessels also house many families, and have services such as an extensive hospital, a playground and a school.
It is interesting to note that half of the hangar bays on the pods are inverted in relation to the ship's artificial gravity. A smaller gravity generator serves to ensure the fighters land properly and remain attached to the landing corridor while the deck crews move them into the elevators, where they are reversed and moved to the hangar deck.
The Hastings-class's most important weapon, aside from its flight wing, is the nuclear ship-to-ship torpedoes it is capable of launching.
Aside from a carrier and a warship, the Hastings-class is also a mobile fighter factory.
Dauntless-Class Dreadnought
Class: Dauntless
Role: Dreadnought
Hull: Capital
Length: 3550m
Width: 1220m
Height: 460m
Decks: 46

x60 Quad Heavy Guided Explosive Batteries
x30 Octuple Heavy Guided Explosive Batteries
x24 Drone Launch Bays
x1 Spinal Artillery Battery
Fighter Wing: 5 Squadrons (110)
Description
The USS Dauntless was once an experimental battleship, focusing on gathering as much firepower as possible on a single vessel. Following a refit, the Dauntless was moved up to Capital Ship size and given the designation of Dreadnought. Almost as big as a Hastings supercarrier, the Dauntless-class has a much smaller crew thanks to increased automation proceedures.
It would be negligent to not mention the 'Aries' Artillery Battery, a device that spans the entire length of the ship. When aligned and charged, it can devastate any vessel in two shots.
Freedom-Class Carrier
Class: Freedom
Role: Carrier, Support Ship
Hull: Battleship
Length: 2475m
Width: 920m
Height: 351m
Decks: 38

Armaments
x36 Multi-Role Heavy Launch Tubes (Accept only MIRV nuclear weapons)
x30 Dual Heavy Guided Explosive Batteries
x60 Drone Launch Bays
Fighter Wing: 12 Squadrons (264)
Description
Much smaller than the Hastings-class, Freedom-class carriers are nevertheless capable of hosting almost as many fighters as their larger brothers. Their role is that of a carrier and support ship, and they barely have any weapons. Those they do have are more often than not used to suppress enemy fighter squadrons or missile barrages. They excel at remotely repairing other ships thanks to their dedicated drone bays, which they have in a much larger quantity than any other battleship or capital in the fleet.
